The German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in southwest Germany has launched a focused tourism promotion campaign in India aimed at strengthening its presence in one of the world's fastest-growing outbound travel markets. The initiative, developed in collaboration with AVIAREPS India, is designed to increase visibility among Indian travelers and the travel trade through targeted marketing, trade partnerships, and destination awareness programs.
The campaign positions Baden-Wuerttemberg tourism as a premium European travel offering that combines cultural heritage, natural landscapes, wellness experiences, gastronomy, luxury shopping, and innovation-driven attractions. Tourism authorities are highlighting the region's appeal to high-value and culturally curious Indian travelers who are increasingly seeking immersive and experience-led international holidays beyond traditional sightseeing routes.
India has been identified as a strategic growth market for Germany tourism, driven by rising disposable incomes and stronger demand for long-haul travel. In 2025, Baden-Wuerttemberg tourism from India recorded 42,615 visitors who generated 163,900 overnight stays, reflecting steady growth in Indian outbound travel to the region. Overall, the state attracted more than 5.47 million international arrivals last year, reinforcing its position as one of Germany's leading tourism destinations.
Christine Schönhuber, Managing Director of Tourism Marketing GmbH Baden-Wuerttemberg, said India represents a high-potential market due to its expanding middle class and increasing interest in global travel experiences. She noted that Baden-Wuerttemberg travel experiences are gaining strong interest among Indian visitors because of their combination of cultural attractions, natural beauty, and modern tourism infrastructure. She also emphasized the region's strength in both leisure tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).

According to AVIAREPS India, Indian travelers are increasingly moving away from conventional European itineraries and are seeking destinations that offer authenticity, variety, and deeper cultural engagement. The partnership aims to position Baden-Wuerttemberg travel as a diverse experience hub covering historic cities, scenic countryside, luxury retail, and culinary excellence.
As part of its 2026 global campaign titled 'Desirable Destinations Where Baden-Wuerttemberg Captures the Heart', the region will promote emotionally driven storytelling to highlight its landscapes, heritage sites, and cultural identity. The campaign aims to showcase Baden-Wuerttemberg tourism as a destination where travelers can build meaningful personal connections with places and experiences.
Key attractions include major cities such as Stuttgart, Heidelberg, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, and Tubingen, along with landmarks like Heidelberg Castle, Hohenzollern Castle, and Ludwigsburg Residential Palace. The Black Forest remains a central highlight, alongside natural attractions such as Triberg Waterfalls, Lake Constance, Titisee, and Schluchsee, making the region a strong destination for nature and wellness tourism.
The region also promotes industrial and cultural tourism through attractions like the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Porsche Museum. Culinary tourism is a major draw, with Baden-Wuerttemberg tourism offering Germany's highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants, totaling 73 stars, along with strong wine and regional food traditions.
Family tourism is supported by Europa-Park, Germany's largest theme park, while shopping experiences such as Outletcity Metzingen enhance its appeal for luxury and premium retail travelers. Accessibility is strengthened through Stuttgart Airport, which connects Baden-Wuerttemberg travel to major European hubs including Munich, Zurich, Amsterdam, and Istanbul.
With this strategy, Baden-Wuerttemberg tourism in Germany is positioning itself as a leading premium destination for Indian travelers seeking culture, nature, luxury, wellness, and immersive European travel experiences.
