The Delhi Government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has introduced a transformative new initiative the Tourism and Heritage Fellowship Programme. This one-year programme is designed to empower young professionals to actively contribute to preserving and promoting Delhi's cultural heritage.
Each year, up to 40 fellows under the age of 35 will be selected, receiving a generous monthly fellowship of Rs 50,000.
To qualify, applicants must be graduates preferably in tourism or related fields with at least one year of experience in sectors like tourism, hospitality, events, or cultural management. Strong English, Hindi, and digital skills are mandatory.
The fellows will take on dynamic roles such as leading heritage walks, organizing guided tours, content creation, tourism marketing, event coordination, and supporting Delhi Haat, the Garden of Five Senses, and tourist information centers. They'll also help facilitate film shoots and manage MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) operations.
The initiative is being managed by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) and aligns with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, utilizing homegrown talent over external consultants.
Successful fellows will be awarded a government-issued certificate. The first batch is expected to begin training later this year.
