Mastercard, MakeMyTrip Introduce AI-Powered Travel Planning

Mastercard has taken a major step into the world of AI-powered travel with the launch of Lifestyle Navigator, a next-generation travel and lifestyle concierge developed in collaboration with MakeMyTrip. Designed to make trip planning smarter and more personal, the platform blends MakeMyTrip's travel marketplace and its AI-driven Trip Planning Assistant, Myra, with Mastercard's advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, offering travellers highly tailored recommendations and curated experiences across destinations worldwide.

This launch marks Mastercard's first global deployment of its white-label Lifestyle Navigator platform, with India leading the way as the inaugural market. MakeMyTrip becomes the first online travel agency partner to adopt the platform, highlighting India's growing prominence in the travel sector. The move comes amid a surge in domestic travel, rising digital adoption, and increasing demand for personalised experiences, making the timing perfect for such an innovation.

At its core, Lifestyle Navigator is designed to provide travellers with insights and recommendations across a wide array of categories, including food, culture, adventure, and retail experiences. Beyond itinerary suggestions, it also recommends relevant payment products, allowing users to take full advantage of Mastercard's global offers, effectively blending travel inspiration with practical tools for convenience and savings.

Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, explained that Myra has been developed to translate vast amounts of travel data into timely, personalized experiences. "We are very happy to collaborate with Mastercard to power the trip planning experience with Lifestyle Navigator, to provide a smooth experience for our travellers. I am hopeful that our travellers will find value in what we are building together", he said, highlighting the potential for AI to transform the way people discover and plan their trips.

Gautam Aggarwal, President of India & South Asia at Mastercard, emphasized that travel is about creating memorable moments, and the new platform brings together discovery, planning, and experiences in a seamless AI-driven interface. "By pairing Mastercard's network of offers and privileges with MakeMyTrip's travel expertise, we’re harnessing AI and data intelligence in a way that is practical, trusted and deeply contextual-helping consumers make better decisions while enabling a more connected, intelligent ecosystem", he said.

The platform is powered by AI and large language models, allowing it to recommend options tailored to user preferences such as destination, travel companions, and personal interests. It integrates Mastercard's Priceless Experiences, partner offers, and travel content from both global and Indian creators into a single discovery interface, ensuring curated, contextually relevant suggestions that feel like guidance from a local expert.

Kaveri Khullar, Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing & Sponsorships for Asia Pacific at Mastercard, remarked that the future of travel planning isn't about endless lists of recommendations. "The insight led us to create Lifestyle Navigator, a first-of-its-kind platform that combines AI, the expertise of leading travel and lifestyle creators, and relevant offers from Mastercard's banking and merchant partners. The result is intelligence that travels with you guiding you seamlessly from inspiration to experience", she said.

Later this year, Lifestyle Navigator will be fully integrated into the MakeMyTrip platform via Myra, marking an important step in expanding AI-driven travel planning for consumers in India. By combining cutting-edge technology, curated local insights, and Mastercard's network, the platform promises to transform how travellers plan, explore, and experience their journeys, offering a more intelligent and connected way to travel.
