The Chesapeake Bay Bridge usually known as the Bay Bridge is a prominent dual-span bridge in Maryland, U.S. It connects the rural part of the state, Eastern Shore region with Western Shore, the urban part. This is one of the longest and most scenic over-water structures in the world.It took 3 years to construct the bridge, from 1949-1952 under the leadership of Governor William Preston Lane, Jr.
