7 Beaches to Visit Before They Disappear

The Gulf of Mexico

The Gulf of Mexico has witnessed more than a generous share of atrocities. BP's Deepwater Horizon well had spilt millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. This oil spill was so horrible that it could not be contained for months. The toxic spill destroyed practically everything in and around the gulf - beaches, wildlife and tourism. Even after the spill was contained, not much could be done to contain the damage done to the beaches. According to a survey by Travelocity, the Gulf oil spill has also adversely affected - Miami, Florida Keys and Cancun. Genevieve Shaw Brown, Senior Editor of Travelocity, says, "It reminds me of Mexico last year, when the border cities were having issues with drug-related violence, but the negative perceptions affected destinations all around Mexico." If You Visit: A few hotels on the Gulf Coast guarantee an oil-free vacation.
