Air India Adds Direct Delhi Osaka Flights in 2027

Air India Adds Direct Delhi Osaka Flights in 2027Air India will launch four weekly non-stop flights between Delhi and Osaka, Japan, from February 2, 2027, expanding international connectivity for Indian travellers. The new service will connect Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi with Kansai International Airport in Osaka, giving tourists and business passengers a direct route to western Japan.

The airline announced the service on October 15, stating that it would become the only carrier operating non-stop flights between the two cities. Osaka will be Air India's second destination in Japan after Tokyo's Haneda Airport, where the airline currently operates daily flights from Delhi and four weekly services from Mumbai.

Delhi–Osaka Flight Schedule

Air India will operate the route using its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. The aircraft features 18 full-flat beds in Business Class and 241 seats in Economy Class.

Flight AI360 will depart Delhi at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving in Osaka at 9:50 a.m. the following day. The return service, AI359, will leave Osaka at 11:50 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, reaching Delhi at 6:20 p.m. All timings are local.

The schedule will also allow passengers to connect through Delhi to destinations across Air India's domestic and international network. Bookings are being progressively opened through the airline's website, mobile application, contact centre, airport ticket offices and authorised travel agents.

Osaka Opens Access to Western Japan

Osaka is an important gateway to Japan's Kansai region, offering access to cultural destinations, historic landmarks, shopping districts and popular entertainment attractions. Travellers can use the city as a starting point for visiting Kyoto, known for its temples and traditional architecture, as well as Nara and Kobe.

The new route will also make multi-city itineraries more convenient. Travellers can fly into Osaka and return from Tokyo, or follow the reverse itinerary, without needing to return to their original arrival city. This flexibility is particularly useful for visitors planning to explore Japan's popular Golden Route, which includes Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.

Rising Interest in Japan Among Indian Travellers

Japan continues to attract growing interest from Indian tourists. According to figures cited by Air India from the Japan National Tourism Organization, more than 315,000 Indian visitors travelled to Japan in 2025. This represented a 35% increase compared with 2024 and nearly 80% growth over pre-pandemic levels.

Tourism, cultural experiences, Japanese cuisine and expanding business connections are contributing to the destination's appeal. The additional direct connection could make travel planning easier for visitors who want to explore destinations beyond Tokyo.

For Air India, the Osaka service expands its presence in East Asia while adding another option for passengers travelling between India and Japan. For Indian travellers, the route offers a direct entry point to western Japan and greater flexibility when planning holidays across multiple cities.

With services scheduled to begin in February 2027, passengers can check Air India's official booking channels for fares, availability and updated schedules before finalising their travel plans.
