What Travellers Can Experience
Kolkata transforms into a vibrant cultural hub during Durga Puja, with elaborate pandals, artistic idols, lighting arrangements, music, dance, food and community celebrations. West Bengal Tourism describes Kolkata as a major centre of Durga Puja and highlights the spectacular immersion carnival that follows Vijaya Dashami.
Visitors can experience the traditional beats of the dhaak, explore themed pandals and witness the grand immersion processions.
For travellers looking for a Dussehra experience centred on Goddess Durga, art, community celebrations and spectacular idol immersion rather than Ravana Dahan, Kolkata offers a distinctly different experience.
